Durham School Dubai, an international all-through school, opened its doors in August 2022 within Dubai Investments Park, adjacent to the Green Community. It is the third international branch of the renowned UK-based Durham School, originally founded in 1414. The school provides a co-educational environment, adhering to a traditional British ethos that prioritizes courtesy, moral integrity, and academic discipline. Its core values are encapsulated in MARK: Moral integrity, Ambition, Responsibility, and Kindness. The curriculum is based on the UK National Curriculum, encompassing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), GCSE, and A-Level examinations, with plans to expand annually to Year 13. Led by Principal Kieran McLaughlin, formerly Headmaster of Durham School UK, the school had 479 students from over 40 nationalities (predominantly UK) and 42 teachers at the time of its first DSIB inspection in April 2025. The teacher:student ratio is 1:11, with average class sizes of around 22 pupils. The first DSIB inspection in April 2025 rated the school "Acceptable" overall, recognizing strong pastoral care, student behavior, and good progress in English and Mathematics in the Primary phase. Facilities include specialist science, art, and IT labs, an acoustically designed music performance hall, a large auditorium, a multi-purpose sports hall, and a 25-meter indoor swimming pool, alongside outdoor sports and play areas. Parent feedback highlights appreciation for caring teachers, strong pastoral support, and the device-free, traditional learning environment, though some concerns were raised regarding communication and inclusion provision. The school aims to provide a safe, nurturing environment while upholding its distinctive traditional character.
