Shfa Badran is a prominent and relatively new northern district located in Amman, the capital of Jordan. Situated approximately 20 km north of downtown Amman, it is part of the University District (Liwa Al-Jami'ah). The area is characterized by its mountainous and rocky terrain, with elevations ranging from about 700 to 1000 meters above sea level, making it one of the areas in Amman most prone to snowfall due to its height. The district is traversed by the Jordan Expressway, which is a key transportation artery. Historically, Shfa Badran was known as 'Kherbat Badran'. The region is home to several archaeological sites in the village of Kom Yajoos, featuring Roman ruins. Notable landmarks in Shfa Badran include the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department and the Public Directorate of Gendarmerie Forces. The climate in Shfa Badran is known for its moderate summers and intensely cold winters. With a population of approximately 35,000 residents and an area spanning around 45,000 dunams, Shfa Badran continues to be a developing residential area.
